Zone control

Zone control for homes and business premises in Haarsteeg and beyond

Most homes are heated as if everyone sits in every room all day. A single thermostat in the living room decides what happens throughout the house, while bedrooms, the spare room and the home office often stand empty. With zone control you divide the house into zones, each with its own temperature and its own schedule. So you heat only where and when it is needed.

Technically it is simpler than it sounds. Every radiator or underfloor heating circuit gets a smart valve or a control in the manifold, and a central controller keeps the zones together. That controller talks to your heat pump or boiler so the flow temperature follows the actual demand for heat. With a heat pump in particular that is a real gain: the lower the flow temperature can be, the higher the efficiency.

In practice you notice two things. It is more comfortable, because the bathroom is warm in the morning and the bedroom is not. And it shows on the bill, because you no longer heat rooms nobody uses. During the survey we look at which zones make sense in your home or premises, which controller suits them and how it works with your existing system. After that you operate everything from an app or a simple wall panel.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you want to know about zone control.

What exactly is zone control?

You divide your home or premises into zones, each with its own temperature and schedule. That way you heat only where and when it is needed.

Does it work with my heat pump?

Yes, and that is where it pays off most. The controller lets the flow temperature follow actual demand, and a lower flow temperature means higher efficiency.

Does my floor have to come up?

No. With radiators we replace the thermostatic valves with smart ones; with underfloor heating we control it in the manifold. No breaking work is needed.

How many zones make sense?

That depends on your layout and how you use it. Three to five zones is often enough: living room, bathroom, bedrooms and possibly an office or work area.

How do I operate it?

Through an app on your phone or a simple wall panel. You set a schedule per zone and can always override it by hand.

What does it save?

That varies per home and depends on how many rooms you currently heat unnecessarily. During the survey we calculate what it means in your situation.
